Up Switch: Pressing this switch will move the motor in one direction and the counts will increase. If there is no response when pressing this button then there is a problem with communications between the hand controller and the motor controller or you have temperature compensation turned on.
Down Switch: Pressing this switch will move the motor in the opposite direction and the counts will decrease. If there is no response when pressing this button then there is a problem with communications between the hand controller and the motor controller or you have temperature compensation turned on.
Position Display: The current focuser position is displayed in this window.
Temperature Compensation Switch: Pressing this switch will place the focuser into temperature compensation mode. The LED should light solid when in temperature compensation mode. If the LED fails to light when this button is pressed then either there is a problem with the temperature sensor or there is a problem with communications between the hand controller and the motor controller.
Learning Mode Switch: This switch is used to teach the hand controller the coefficient for temperature compensation. Focus the telescope using your favorite method before you enter the learning mode. To enter the learning mode this switch must be held down for 2 seconds. It is best to monitor the temperature using the MicroTouch software. The led on the hand controller will flash on and off once every second while in learning mode. A snapshot of the current temperature and position will be taken when learning mode is entered. Wait a sufficient amount of time for the temperature to change. A minimum temperature change of at least 5 degrees is recommended. When the temperature has changed to your satisfaction refocus the scope again. You can use the hand-controller or run your favorite autofocusing software for refocusing. The led will continue to flash while you are focusing because you will still be in learning mode. After the scope is focused press the learning mode switch again to exit learning mode. The led will stop flashing. The temperature and the new focuser position will be used to calculate the coefficient that will be used for temperature compensation. The computed coefficient can be viewed on the Temperature Compensation tab in the MicroTouch application software.
Reset Position Switch: The focuser operates as an absolute position focuser but due to the wide range of motion found on some focusers the capability to reset the current position is provided. Pressing and holding the reset position switch for 1 second will reset the focuser position to 5000. The display will begin to flash to give you time to release the switch if you do not wish to reset the position. This will not move the focuser. It only changes the position shown in the position display. Normally you would focus your telescope and then use this switch to reset the current position to 5000. This will insure that you will have full range of motion for performing autofocusing. The focuser will remember it's position when powered down so if you do not move your focuser with the focuser powered down you should not need to reset the position every time.
LED: The LED is used to indicate different modes of operation for the hand controller. The LED remains off normally. The LED will stay lit solid when in temperature compensation mode. The LED flashes on and off once per second when in learning mode. The LED flashes about 3 times per second when the hand controller is in boot and ready to have new firmware uploaded.
